Year 5 – Maths & Reasoning Group, 10-12 April

Year 5 – Maths & Reasoning Holiday Group
Thursday 10th – Saturday 12th April
10am – 2:30pm Daily

This short course will provide an engaging introduction to entrance exam maths and reasoning, providing preparation for not only the Consortium exam, but also in-school testing such as the CAT and InCAS assessments.  The focus will be on learning quick and effective methods to help students navigate online assessments.

On Day I – we will begin by looking at maths puzzles, a feature of the new Consortium exam, and an aspect of all entrance exam assessments.

On Day II – we will look at cube nets and problems involving cubes, an aspect of both the Consortium exam and the ISEB Pretest.

On Day III – we will finish by working on quantitative reasoning – number sequences and number analogies.  We will then take a short, timed test which will provide a benchmark, feedback, and focus topics to work through.

The group will be supported by a lively learning game, Victorian Zoo Baron!  Students will earn points which they can use to buy prizes and can redeem these each day or amass points to save up for a grand prize!

The group will be led by Winterwood’s co-founder, Dr Tom Parkinson.  Tom oversees the entrance exam cohort at Winterwood , and has fifteen years’ experience of the entrance exam system.  Tom will provide detailed advice, guidance and focus topics following the course, and will also be on hand to discuss any aspect of the process, or school admissions with parents on the final day of the course.
