Year 5 Creative Writing Easter Holiday Workshop
Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th April


This short two-day workshop is designed to help Year 5 students improve their creative writing and will help students applying to schools which assess creative writing, such as Latymer Upper, St Paul’s Girls’, North London Collegiate, Wycombe Abbey, King’s College, Dulwich College, Eton College, City of London Boys, Westminster and St Paul’s Boys’.

  • Day I – Plot and Structure
    11+ entrance exam style, how to choose a topic
    Language and Imagery – adding advanced vocabulary and figurative language Atmosphere and Tension – crafting evocative stories which will stand out.
     
  • Day II – Different Types of Writing Task
    Different types of creative writing prompts Responding to the Question – how to respond to titles and turn them into writing Short Written Assessments – three short ten-minute written exercises, with time to reflect (and improve) in-between each one.

Feedback and marking will be emailed afterwards, and one-to-one verbal feedback can be arranged on request.

The course will be led by Jade Everingham, Winterwood’s co-founder and director of teaching. She has been working in the education industry for 15 years, has over 20,000 hours of tutoring experience, and has also taught in the senior school English department at the prestigious NLCS. She has an unparalleled success rate with entrance exam tuition, and many of her students have been awarded academic scholarships on the basis of their creative writing.
