Year 4 – Back to School Reasoning, 19, 20, 22 April

Year 4 – Intensive Reasoning Course

(3-days) Saturday 19th,
Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd April 2025

This short holiday course is designed to help consolidate reasoning skills.  It will focus on the most difficult aspects of reasoning which many students struggle to get past.

  • We will address the dreaded cube nets – looking at questions involving cubes and rotation.

  • We will look at figure analysis – a difficult question type which comes up on both entrance exams and in-school assessment (CAT-4).

  • We will look at shuffled sentences – one of the most challenging VR question types. We will work on parts of speech, and finding superfluous words.

  • We will look at CAT verbal analogies and CAT number analogies – two question types which will make a major difference to in-school assessment.

As well as working hard, we will play hard! We will compete in the ‘reasoning Olympics’ – using fun, breakout activities to help keep students engaged, and to earn points which they can use to buy prizes.

Laurie has thousands of hours of tutoring experience preparing students for the 11+, he teaches Maths, English and Reasoning. He has worked with Winterwood both as a residential tutor and has been running Winterwood’s 11+ /13+ exam preparation group courses over many years.
