Latymer Upper Group, 30 Nov-1 Dec
Written by Tom Parkinson on Monday, October 28, 2024
Last year, Latymer Upper was the most academically competitive school in London. The school was very oversubscribed, and only students working at a very high level in both maths and English to through to the interview stage.
This short, two-day group will aim to get students to the required level and will use examples of past questions (including the format and structure of last year’s exam) to familiarise students with the level and format of Latymer Upper assessment.
Day I – students will work on multiple choice literary comprehension in the morning session, and composition- based on last year’s creative writing prompt – in the afternoon. The day will finish with a short assessment, with full feedback provided to parents.
Day II – students will work through Latymer Upper format maths – multiple choice arithmetic and challenging, multiple stage questions. Students will work with examples of past question types and will work through recurring question types which come up again and again.
The course will be led by Dr Tom Parkinson. Tom co-founded Winterwood in 2011 and has been preparing students for Latymer Upper for almost fifteen years. Tom has an excellent Latymer Upper success rate, with several students offered academic scholarships. Oliver Ford will teach day II. Oliver has thousands of hours of tutoring experience and although a trained historian, he teaches Maths, English and Reasoning up to 13+. He has worked with Winterwood both as a residential tutor and has been running Winterwood’s 11+ / 13+ exam preparation group courses in the last couple of years.
