Entrance Exam Online Learning
At Winterwood we have a number of online specialists, who primarily teach from home, via Skype or other online portals. Our experienced tutors are used to making online sessions just as engaging as one-to-one tuition in the family home, sharing screens, resources and content, and setting and assessing homework this way. Regardless of where you are based, you can have access to our talented online tutors.
We can offer Skype or Zoom sessions, remote marking, feedback and schemes of work (for homeschooling) and we are able to offer a virtual whiteboard service via our online portal. This screen sharing technology allows tutors to share teaching materials with their students. Links to other pages, work and online resources can also be pinned to the page. This material is available outside lesson times, and is particularly useful for students preparing for GCSE and A-Level exams
Drawing on our bespoke resources and carefully tailored tuition process, we have guided hundreds of entrance exam students to their target schools. Every year, Winterwood students are offered places at competitive independent schools, such as St Paul’s, Westminster, City of London, Haberdashers’, Highgate, UCS, Latymer, Dulwich College, Merchant Taylor’s and Mill Hill, along with St Paul’s Girls, City of London Girls, North London Collegiate, South Hampstead, Godolphin & Latymer, Francis Holland and more. Outside London, we help students gain entrance to schools such as Eton, Harrow, Wellington, Marlborough, Cheltenham Ladies’, Wycombe Abbey, Charterhouse, Bradfield, Millfield and many more. Testimonials, references and success stories are available on the website, or upon request.
Support at Home
At Winterwood, we are happy to offer ongoing support to students who are social distancing or self isolating. We offer regular, affordable tuition for students, on either a one-on-one or family basis. Rather than preparing students for entrance exams, tutors will focus on supporting learning by following either national curriculum or independent schools’ schemes of work.
Although schools are working hard to provide resources and content, we understand many parents need additional support to help deliver lessons to their children. As this is not going to require an ongoing commitment in many cases, we are happy to offer a 30-45 minute topic-based intervention. An experienced subject tutor will be available online, on a one-to-one basis. They will break down the topic, explaining core learnings, and provide a context and examples. Families will need to provide materials in advance, so that our tutors can prepare.
Please do get in touch if you require assistance with online homeschooling, or if you would like to call on a tutor to help contextualise a troubling topic or new learning. We are happy to help.
